... this morning, and they've been there before as well. Anyone know what they're up to?

They're not in uniform (and to be fair, I'm only assuming that they've police), but are wearing stab vests. Also, there's no sign of marked police cars. Instead they've got a dark blue transit-alike, with a glass cage in the back to keep people in.

All looks a bit Stasi-like to me! Anyone know what they're up to?

I'll ask next time I see them, I think.

You're certain they're not the paramilitary wing of the ticket inspectors?

Sounds like some Task Force or Tactical Aid Unit.

Were they wearing civilian clothes or overalls?

In casual stuff, rather than overalls, but with the vests over the top.

It's not the first time they've been there - a couple of weeks ago there were a couple of the same blue, unmarked vans with cages in the back.

Any guesses as to what they were up to?

Hi Dan..
How many in the van?
Where was it parked?
Any outside the van?

It could be a number of things:

Drugs raid, immigration service, back up for officers somewhere else in the area and they were just 'standing off' waiting.

Well, when I went past there must have been four or so, a couple outside the van, and another two/thee in it. 't was parked in the turning circle/drop off zone right outside the station. It wouldn't have been possible to leave by the main exit without passing them. The van's side door was open, and it looked like there were a couple of people locked up in it already.

It's no good - next time I see 'em I'll have to ask.

Perhaps they were intending to nick Cliff Richard for 'singing in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace' if the tennis got rained off!
