Approved used - will dealers shuffle head office stock?

Okay, so I've seen the car I want. Exact price, spec, mileage and colour in a dealer's approved used stock. The downside is that it's a few hours away.

It'd be far more convenient if my local dealer could arrange for the vehicle to be transferred here. No idea if they do that at all though.

So, ahead of going down tomorrow and asking, I thought I'd ask you wonderful people.

What level of commitment would they need from me, if they do this stuff at all?

Really can't be bothered with the long drive unless I have to; because I'm sure they'd just give me a prohibitively poor part-exchange price which would negate the whole thing anyway.

So, dreamworld or something they can do?

I expect they probably could if there is an incentive for both to do so.

Expect your bargaining position to be reduced/non-existent.

If its within the same dealer group they're normally happy to transfer the vehicle to close the sale.

The only stumbling block is the dealer with the car won't allow the transfer if they've got an interested party.

370z black edition.

Having spent months considering A5's, Z4M, Evo X fq360, even the occasional TVR/Mazzer, a low mileage 370z should do the trick nicely.

Not sure the 350z will be a popular part-ex though :/

These cars aren't selling. I'd imagine they would be happy to move it. By the way, the 370z is a fking awesome drive, but you already knew that!

Just buy it over the 'phone and have the dealer deliver it. If you don't like it you can return with 7 days under the Distance Selling Regs. Arguably it's the best way to buy a car as you get a few days to try it out.

I have bought two cars over the phone, including PX, both were a distance away from me. Both cars were at respected dealers so limited risk on my part, they trusted me & took me at my word.

Can't see how the DSRs apply to a car sale. The sale and the contract would be concluded by the dealer in person at the time of delivery, also for the DSRs to apply the dealer would have to normally sell vehicles without any face to face communication.

Nissan don't do this.

Been in to my local and they *used* to do this with a certain type of vehicle, but now the approved used are dealer-specific. So now, I need to speak to the one a couple of hours away to ascertain whether they'd entertain the idea of part-exing the 350z before going down there tomorrow to look at the damn thing.
