I have a contact in the clutch industry who thinks he can build us a better clutch that can handle quite a bit of torque

does anyone have an old clutch i can have

does anyone have pictures of the clutches in our cars

Mike l don't see the point, the Helix is now a very proven upgrade to the standard capable of in excess of 600 hp / 550 lbs & reliable.

But what would you do about the gearbox, driveshafts etc?

Sorry Mike got to agree with the rest of the guys on this one , what good is a Clutch that will support 700lbft when the gearbox/driveshafts/chasis ect will not be up to the increase , at the moment the engines will run a lot more torque but Yellowshed caps it at 540lbft to protect everything .

A smaller lighter clutch would be a better upgrade , sorry dont have a spare Clutch .Tux

problem is no one knows for sure what the box will cope with , we have run 540lbft with no issues and to be honest why would you need more ? the car is epic with 600bhp and 540lbft of torque and its certainly at its limits when it comes to chasis control , any more power is going to mean both chasis and suspension upgrades and what would be the point ? after all poser is nothing without control !! Got to agree with you there Tuxn nice idea to have a Noble clutch but without the other bits like driveshaft and gearbox what would be the point, atbh I wouldn't want more power than I have, I believe the chassis is already at its limit with 550ftlb,
I have my first track day Feb the 5th and will go for broke if its dry to see how all the mods On my car hold up and I would like to say I was confident that she will finish the day and not the day finishing her, we will see?
I am filming the day so will post my results, I'm getting nervously existed .

Mike, suggest you come out for a ride ontrack with one of us, 500 bhp / 450 lbs is great power for a lot of circuits & is ideal usable power.
600 bhp / 550 lbs is on another level & unless everything else on your car is properly sorted you really are never going to be able to use other than bragging rights down the pub !

I am after something more like super car - not a track car

something a bit insane like a koenigsegg

Supercars are about excitement and intimidation

this video kind of sums it up - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YhR2lXJNg3M

and this one - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyj7D1zTSBc

I work in the Dynamometer industry so HP is more important to me than most

My clutch takes 650ftlb and is 10kgs lighter than the stock setup... You won't get a single plate clutch to take that much.

Hey Mike,

if it is a case of producing numbers on a dyno for showcasing then that is a different matter and my friend did the same recently, he has a dyno and spent alot of money getting an EVo to 1100whp and it did gain a lot of attention.... but after he proved it was possible he now has the car running at 700bhp......but thats 4wd and still only good for drag racing....

cant you find a way of producing more bhp at higher rpm without increasing the torque?...you dont want a car that just loses traction everytime you touch the pedal...

Mike, i just opened those links, i am also a big fan of events like the texas mile, i think if you are wanting to create one of those monsters i personally would start with a different base model, it would be great fun to build something intimidating and crazy on acceleration, these Gallardo TT do 100-200kmh in 3.3 secs, compare to a Carrera Gt in 6.8 secs and its mind blowing just how fast these things are, i think a 620bhp, 550lb/ft Noble would do 100-200kmh in 5.4 seconds and that is also very very fast, if you can create a high revving engine that will allow you to do 100-200kmh in 4th gear, you may get sub 5, i personally would not try and aim any higher with this car, it will be very scary.

Your choice though at the end of the day, but if i were to do this then i would consider going the whole hog, turn the engine, elongate the chassis, match up a sequential box with gear system and get it all properly sorted for being a contender..

Andy, is the 650 ftlb clutch the one you also used in your kit car ?

i guess 4wd would be preffered for the sort of car I am looking to build

with the prices of the GTR slipping now and 600 hp available from airfilter/remap/exhaust it may be a better base to start from

but hey i like a crazy car - I already own a 400 hp fiesta !

you get to learn how to drive around the limits of traction with reduced boost/gear selected and sometimes just letting it spin till the road speed catches up

1000+ easily now achievable on a GTR for <50k on top of the car with seemingly good reliability.

Give Noble a call, I'm sure they'd buy some for the M600s teeheehee.

You driven one? I found the feeling of mass far less than I was expecting when I had Pete's 650bhp version for the weekend.

I've the new (2011 model) Black version all this weekend as well so I'll see how it's progressed.
