As 95% of the UK have managed to freeze or reduce council tax for 2012-13 then so should York.

The council are taking the advice of the 'fairness' commission who said the public would want a rise of between 3.5-6%. Luckily the maximum they can rise that by is 3.5% without a referendum.

If you think that York should freeze its council tax like the rest of the country. Then can you please sign the petition and pass it on

I'd like my council tax to be the same as the rest of the road!Even though there are houses that are the same size as ours we are two bands higher because theyve not been sold since being extended. We got caught out by this because we were unaware that the tax band on the estate agents details were to change - not the difference between being broke but still a big ps off factor.

There seems to be a lot of this going on in York.

A friend of mine was building his house and was doing as and when he could afford while living at his parents next door. So he could be mortgage free.

As soon as the roof went on, they wanted council tax from him. They didn't believe he wasn't living there. No internal fittings, heating, electrics, etc. Madness.
