993 Sports Seats comfort
Discussion
Before I go ripping my sports seats from my TT, I thought I'd try and discover if anyone else is having problems getting comfortable.
More to the point, when I have the seats in a normal 'clutch leg extended and palm on steering wheel' away from the controls I find myself being thrown around the car and unable to really relax. If I move the seat closer and more upright so that it is literally holding me in place, I get lower back pain!
Any ostopaths on here who'd like to give advice?

This is a completely unhelpful but I think that all Porsche seats are appalling for the value of the car. My "Comfort" ones are the worst offenders. No lumbar support at all in my opinion. The old style (non shoulder bolster) sports seats in my old 993 were the best I have experienced in a Porsche and mediocre by SAAB / Audi or Ferrari standards – The Ferrari 550 Maranello Daytona seats are a example of amazing seats, shame I can’t retro fit them to my 996 !
I have to agree. The sports seats in my 964 actually stopped me sliding sideways around the car.
The 'comfort' seats in the 993 are just plain old seats and the 'sports' are plain old seats with wings.
Southbound have quoted me £1200 for a pair of recaro buckets. They should keep me in the car.
Problem is as i've already stated, if the seat is in a comfortable position, I find i have to tense up to stop myself flying around. If i have the seat hold me in place i need a shoe horn to get me in and out!

I recently ditched my lazee boys for a pair of pukka GT3 benches and they are supreme, totally transforming the level of pshycosis, along with a smaller steering wheel which is similarly essential.
You have got to do this, no excuses.

Without wishing to sound like a pu$$y, are the Recaro seats comfortable for any kind of distance?
I actually wondered today if i would have been better off with an RS and guess what? The check engine light came on! I think my TT is reading my mind!
I've spoken to Southbound and they can do a pair of RS type recaro's for £1150 ready to drop in. Does this sound about right?

that price sounds about right,, in fact if it includes the runners and side mounts it is pretty good.
By RS type S/bound probably means recaro spg or pole position in cloth. pole position are the wider of the two.
In a 993 i much prefer RS to Gt3 seats as at least they look period, in terms of comfort they are fine.
Rear access is awkward and as we have discussed many times. you sgould not carry rear passengers with fixed back seats.
The seat and back rest are attatched by velcro and you can add/remove foam pads to alter the lumbar to suit your needs.
