Clio clutch burning, but no slip
Discussion
If the clutch isn't slipping then it's probably not the clutch. I wonder if you've got a seized brake piston. Next time you smell the burning, stop and check the temperature of your brake discs. I'd suggest pouring water or spitting on them, rather than touching, as a seized piston makes for a very hot brake disc.

Wouldn't that be noticeable when you lift off the gas though? i.e. your car slows down quicker than it should if just coasting? My lad has a 51 Clio (MK 2??) and the rear drum brake piston seized on it a few months back, also making a smell and getting very hot.
Try going for a short drive, stop and walk around the car placing your hand near the center of each wheel - if it is seized, you'll feel the heat radiating from it.

Had this problem a couple of times, both on Vauxhalls (my Astra and Mum's Corsa).
When you have been for a drive, put your hand close to the disc on either side (DO NOT touch it) and compare which one is hotter. It should be very obvious - I remember with my Astra I got out in the evening and it was dark, and one of the discs was actually glowing orange!
New calliper and both cars were fine
