Righto - a hard drive blew up on me a while back & I resolved to replace it with two - one for Windows/progs & the other for files.

Installed XP, all up and running, except the 2nd HDD isn't showing up in My Computer.

Both HDDs are Samsung, and both show up in Device Manager.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Aha!

My C: drive is 'Disk 0' and the 2nd HDD is showing up as 'Drive 1' but 'Not initialized'.

Er, what next?

edit: is it really as simple as right click, initialize disk?!

thn give it a signature, and format it to the Filesystem of your Desired Type.

Assignit a drive letter (or mount path) and you're off

Right click on Disk1, do you get an option to format/initialise/create partition??

Hmm. It's now initialized, but it's 'unallocated' - how do I format/name it? (NTFS, if that makes any difference)

Cheers!

Yep - 'create partition' - I'm assuming I want to create a primary partition?

Aye, primary partition, format as NTFS at whatever size you fancy..

And that should be your second drive ready to use!
