A great morning at RSJ
Discussion
Right I know I do this every year but credit where credit is due. RSJ have just completed a major service on my 996 Turbo and I can only say positive things. Joel and Darren are fantastic fellas and my car and myself were well treated as always. Best news was that she got a clean bill of health and now I can put her up for sale.
I have loved the Turbo for 3 years now but it's time to move on. I'm deferring to the darkside (Flame suit on). I will be back though as the Porker has been great. Perhaps a GT3 or 2 next time ; ). Once I come back I will certainly be sourcing my motor from Joel/Darren as they have really looked after me over the past 3 years. Sorry I'm going for a Datsun Joel but the itch just needs scratching.
Now for the reason that i got up early this morning and beasted the 70 mile trip to RSJ in record time lol. Joel picked up his brand new 991 C2S PDK lastnight and he promised me a drive. Well I thought it would be a passenger ride owing to the fact that it had only been in his possession for less than 24 hours and that it only had 130 miles on it when he pitched up before opening time. To my surprise and elation he chucked me the keys and let me lose
First off the car looked stunning in the flesh. Photo's I have seen before really don't do this car justice. Even my photo's attached below don't capture it. It looks fantastic in white and the 20inch black rims looked sweeeeeeeeettttttttttt. I was restricted by the 4k rev limit for the run in period but I was still able to stretch her legs enough to hear what I can say was sweet soulful music. This car did not sound like any other 911 I have heard before. Pressing the sport button meant that the cabin was filled with a fantastic sound under acceleration (Kind sounded like a R8 V10 I drove last year). Even at those low revs. She is going to sound mental on full chat once run in. On that note I also think it will be a devastating cross country missile. It was planted and had a really nice ride even on the 20's.
Now for the best bit. That PDK box is just an absolute dream. The changes just can't be felt and they are lighting quick.
All in all I give the new 911 a MASSIVE thumbs up
I can't imagine what a Turbo version would be like.
Anyway here are a couple of pic's. Excuse the poor quality. I think theres a finger in the way of one of them lol.

I will miss dealing with Joel and Darren for a year or so. However i will visit in between and perhaps try and change Joels mind on Datsuns ; )
Now all I have to do is sit down tomorrow and knock up a couple of ads. If any one fancies a well cared for 996 Turbo please give me a shout. I will let you all know how the sale goes etc. I've met some great people on the porsche forums some of which I would certainly call mates. That includes Joel and Darren of course. Even once she has gone I will certainly frequent the Porsche forum to keep up to speed with the next car. Got to have a car plan ; )

I was at RSJ this afternoon - the 991 looks great (needs a clean now
) - bit too much writing on the back for my tastes, but those wheels loook lovely. Spent some time with Darren (and noticed a 360 spyder in the corner looking fab - not for me, though, I need the extra seats!)
