Essex V6 crankshaft crack testing?

Bah, humbug. Hold it up with one hand and tap it lightly on a crank web with a hammer with the other hand. If it rings like a bell it's ok. If you get a really dull hollow sounding note then chuck it. I used to have iron cranks crack tested years ago and they all came back as being cracked. I gave up after that and none of them failed.
