Off on Holiday in June of this year to Saalbach in Austria for the third time. The first time we stayed in Saalbach we drove to Berchtesgaden and took the tour of Hitlers Mountain Retreat. Being only 12 at the time, I am not entirely sure if the following was a true recollection or wishful thinking.

From memory after walking along the tunnel towards the lift waiting room at the base of the mountain, we entered the elevator. I seem to remember it being relatively large and the capacity being larger than a regular elevator that one would find in an office block/hotel.

My main memory however was of a large control panel with several buttons on it. This, I presumed, was an indication of other floors within the complex. The lift eventually reached the top and there appeared to be only one floor where the public could leave and enter.

I have had a thorough look through Google Images and the like to find a picture of the inside of the elevator taken at the right angle to show the control panel, to no avail.

Has anyone else been and does anyone else recall any such panel? A weird question I know and I am probably wishing for something that is not there!

On the basis we have visited the Kehlsteinhaus before as well as the Bunker system beneath the Turk Hotel, is there anywhere else that anyone would recommend nearby? I appreciate that there is virtually no remaining buildings/sights from this period in history but would be grateful for any information.
