I do not know the car but I bought mine from James at TVR MADS and had a good experience.
Funily enough the car that I bought and still own is pretty much exactly the same as the one you are looking at, very similar colour scheme and even built in the same month.

Thanks for your reply-are the 5 litre cars known for requiring early engine rebuilds?
As Jammy has stated not really no. Does the dealer have any info on the engine rebuild, there must be something in the car's history file relating to it. I would also be interested to know whether the owner at the time had the engine rebuilt to standard spec or a higher state of tune.I wouldn't get to hung up over the engine to be honest the main thing to worry about is the chassis and overall condition. The engines fairly bullet proof you can get it rebuilt for around 3k which yes is a lot of money but not when you consider it is a 20k car.

My Griff is the ex-Evo magazine/Harry Metcalfe one; they managed to destroy the engine due to oil surge while on track so it got a whole new one. I took it as a positive as I figured it was one big part of the car that ought to be fresh.
As Jammy says, it'll probably depend on the quality of the rebuild. Worth asking TVR Mads at least.

I have spoken with james-apparently the cam and followers were replaced by V8 developments. He is not sure what cam was installed-it may be a 218?
He also mentioned that the chassis had been drilled in various places so that rust prevention could be applied-I have not heard of this being done before.

V8Developments are among the very best to carry out engine work. If you contact them they may have a record on what was done. Replacement stock cams are not uncommon. He also mentioned that the chassis had been drilled in various places so that rust prevention could be applied-I have not heard of this being done before.
Can't comment on the chassis work
