VW to enter F1?

Hmmm...it's been rumoured so oft before.
Assuming that it may be genuine, then which top teams could they supply? Well Renault seem to have a nice engine supply business going so not sure they'd move on any time soon, which means Red Bull will stick with Renault. Ferrari and Mercedes obviously use their own engines, so what about McLaren who's deal with Mercedes ends in 2015 IIRC. Mind you, would the road car competition with Porsche/Audi/Bugatti prevent such a deal?
So you're then down to second tier teams - Lotus (Genii) might be a possibility. Force India have a strong technical tie-in with McLaren, so perhaps they'd follow whatever McLaren do, or maybe they're building up to going their own way?
Further down Sauber, Torro Rosso and Williams would provide a low-key entry into F1. Maybe good for a feet-finding season, but surely they'll want a to see some returns by year 2 - so will need at the very least a regular points scoring team.
Caterham, HRT and Marussia (sp?) won't hold any interest for VW except perhaps to sell on some units for a bit of market share and revenue.
Unless a deal with Mclaren (Unlikely) or maybe Lotus is on the cards, I can't see there's much in it for VW.

Look what Audi has done at Le Mans. Great car, but more a great team well run and using every thing the car had to offered. If they bring this into F1 I see them winning races and maybe a championship.
I'm right in thing Porsche owns most of VW, and they have past link to Maclaren! Tag was Porsche owned and they were good engines. Could we see a VW/Audi powered Maclaren? Mercedes has its own F1 team and supplies Force India with engine, I can see Maclaren moving to a new engine. The road car links have already ended. What do you thing.

Porsche have been there before and were not particularly successful if I remember rightly.
The 4 cylinder rule for the new engines was to satisfy VW/Audi, they pulled out hence that rule is no longer needed really.
I wouldn't be surprised if McLaren have a go at their own engine..

VW: "Actually, we don't think we'll bother. But thanks for forcing Renault, Cosworth, Mercedes and Ferrari to waste millions on development and manufacturing costs. So long, suckers!"

Porsche owns about 50% of Volkswagen Group, but then again Porsche is owned by Piech and Porsche families... it is rather confusing but I think there is consensus that Porsche's takeover of VW kind of failed and that they are now united (once again).Edited by exhaustfume on Monday 30th January 18:50

Yes they were. All the R8s and it's version have been practically works cars , even the Bentley .
