Left on wednesday from Eastbourne to Dover 65miles, across to Calais then down one of the best roads Ive been on so far the A1 to paris 180miles of perfect newly built roads...! We went in the range rover since there was 5 of us but really want to do the trip again but in the lambo! One thing is that the ports and driving on/off the boats are definitely not lambo friendly with the ground clearance....how do people do it! Or what other options are there without extortionate cargo prices?

I think everyone knows about Gulzars Lambo and other cars so hardly a show off.

I've been on ferrys a few times in cars like a Dino, 328 and 355 and more often then not your taken out of the usual car lines and put in the boat next to all the lorries or at least right to the front of the boat to avoid people scratching the car. Never had too much of a problem getting over the ramps just take your time and approach them at an angle and the car should go over. Does the Lambo not have an adjustable ride height?

Maybe

The guildelines are tight - would be easy to curb a Lambo rear wheel I reckon.

Admittedly I've not seen Lambos, but plenty of sports cars including a 996TT. They usually put the shiny metal altogether on the bottom - when I went on with my Boxster I was in with a group of Pork, some Loti, an XKR etc.

a brave man..last time I drove in Paris I said never again!..it was like expensive bumper cars. There is a reason why most Parisians drive stty old hatchbacks, mostly dented on every panel..if I was going again I would want a Hirecar, Defender (at least)..ideally a tank..watched several times from the window of my brothers flat in central Paris as someone has used their vehicle to push the cars either side to get out of a parking space and winced with every contact (with empathy for the oblivious owners)..but the truth is not many people in Paris give a st about this, as was evident from not a single person taking a blind bit of notice of people driving into other vehicles..thats to say nothing of the driving in general!..

..if you got away with a trip there unscathed I would say you were very fortunate mate

If you let the ferry company know in advance, some of them have ramp add-ons that can be used for low cars smile

Funny I nearly did the same trip last week, and I'm doing it again next week.

I found the tunnel was quite tight up in a bmw 7 series, but the curb runner things are round so they don't damage your tires.

The good thing about the train is you stay with your car, so you don't have to worry about other people damaging it.

Tunnel every time for low clearance cars. If the lambo is too wide you could always go in the carriage with the coaches.

wink

Can't you request to go on the lorry deck or something?

I've been on ferries in both Caterhams and Ferraris which must be low as Lambos, and never had an issue. Like somebody said, they tend to put you in the lanes with the lorries, coaches and caravans which avoids any major camber or angles to avoid scraping.
