Ok, 996 c4s WITHOUT PSE. Want to get this sorted, but OPC want about £3k for a PSE. Which quite frankly is too much on a £20k car, for me. Just want a bit more sonic enjoyment.

As the title suggest has anyone got any exhaust suggestions that give a great sound. Don't want to hack.

There must be a company making a great exhaust for less than £3k?

Cheers.

Do Europipe et al make ones for C4's?
Keep a look out in the classifieds for one.

There's some data in the wiki http://pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f...

I'd look at Manthey.

I managed to get a PSE for a good deal less but I suspect I was lucky.

I am very surprised at how completely different the exhaust brands sound and if I didnt have a PSE I would be looking at a dansk.

I'd look at Manthey.
Ditto, the Manthey for a carrera sounds great, call RSJ as they had 1 for sale or contact Manthey direct. You could also look at fvd as they supply.

I thought the RSJ one was a bit dear, given they'll take your standard system when fitting the Manthey.

Didn't know that. Try fvd, JZMachtech or Manthey direct.

Have you tried haggling with various OPC's?

Me and some of the other guys on this forum around 18 months ago managed to organise a GROUP BUY with Porsche Reading.
One guy took the lead, got everyone's details and asked Porsche Reading to make us an offer. I think we paid around £1,800 each whereas actual prices around the time ranged from £2,500 to £3000. I had a 997 C2S, another had a 996, and another had a caymen (Im guessing here as it was a long time ago!!).

Another option for someone looking for a PSE is to buy a great used 997 that comes with one!!! especially one with warranty, FPSH, all receipts/invoices, low mileage and good price, such as this one: binned
hmmmmmm, looks kind of familiar wink

Try Carnewal where they offer 2 solutions...either a brand new pr of boxes or an 'exchange' for your current ones....the mod is to open the boxes up & to alter the internals, apparently making it sound more like an air cooled 911 - look on Youtube & also on PH where it has been discussed. I think the exchange basis is about £360 ish plus P&P. The other thing is that if you use the exchange basis, you still have OPC part nos etc on the boxes. A couple of friends have used Carnewal & cannot recommend the service enough & if you email them, you will get a quick response

lol! The service was done during December 2010, but car was kept over christmas at Porsche reading at my request cos of the bad weather/snow that year.

They ended up stamping my book on 4th of Jan, 2011 when my car was dropped off at my work!!

Thats the problem when you are too honest wink
