Got a 106 which is starting to get a bit rusty. Nothing structural, does this stuff do a good job? Thanks

Yes.

Having said that, the BH deox-gel/deox-C is better if you have the time to use it, making for a longer lasting repair and enables you to use the Electrox zinc coating afterwards.

Hydrate 80 is good as a speedy repair on a less clean surface.

Thanks, it is only for 12-18 months. I have some de-ox gel which I will probably use for the cleaner bits.

In my experience with Hydrate 80, rust started to come back again after 6 months, so it wasn't a durable solution for me.

What is a great combination is the Deox C/Gel followed by Electrox (at least two coats) and a top coat.

I've found this to be very durable.

Yep, deox is definitely the better long term solution. Prep is still important with the Hydrate 80 - degreasing and mechanically removing as much rust as possible so that the H80 can work directly on the oxidising surface of the metal.

I will be getting it steam cleaned first then attacking it with a grinder and wheel. It isn't bad for a 106, which doesn't mean alot!

Sounds like that should be as good a prep base for it as any, though a wipe down with Surfex HD after going at it with brush as a belt and braces step wouldn't hurt.

Once the H80 has cured, go over it with a good primer. BH Etchweld would do the job nicely.

Are these underbody areas you're treating?
