Did anyone else think the top gear was back to it's old 2006-7 best with tonight's episode? So good to see after the ste they do for the Christmas specials Fair play to Hammond for taking an M600 to the limit on Imola, his moment looked horrid.

No.

It was just the generic challenge stuff with actual interesting cars.

After the dross at Christmas, that blew my bks off. No nonsense, no goofing, just straight up car entertainment by 3 people genuinely "in to" the moments. Hope it continues.

I think its definitely on the right track judging by the first episode. A bit of it was still a tad scripted, but the cars, the camera work and the race at the end were top-notch TV.

I think you need to accept it as more of an entertainment show rather than a car show.

I like to think of it as an entertainment show loosely based around cars - still love it though !!

My only complaint is it wasn't nearly long enough, what where they thinking letting that star in car William disrupt the proceedings. Noble for me please

Loved this episode, so intense at the end with the cars on track. I'm torn between the McLaren and the Lamborghini. Definitely not the Noble, looks old fashioned at the front.

Which is usually when TG is at it's best.

I switched off as soon as the star in reasonably priced car came on. I hate that part, why do they keep doing it when nobody cares for it. Why can't they do a section on how to do something to your own car e.g. change a brake pad or something useful.

Clarkson looks like a geriatric, hammond is trying to move his nose from out of geriatric's ass slightly, and May is being as he is which is ok. Its not bad, less scripted, and not trying too hard.

Why? Theres shed loads of 'entertainment' shows for all the family I don't want to watch. I want a car show!

That was much more like what I want to see. Proper cars with proper driving. The Will I Am interview was the only bit I didn't pay attention to.

Yes, I think Imola was a good choice too.

Very good episode although the 'road trip' ones do tend to be the better one to watch.

Imola looked awesome and they really did manage to capture the history and awe that it holds. Big respect to them for driving flat out - they were clearly trying!!

Noble for me I think, just for that quality wastegate chatter!

Top gear is an entertainment program. It's the biggest program on the planet and we should be proud of it. Its as good as it's always been!

I never get the "doing it down" of TG. Just watch 5th gear to realise how it could be!

TG is 10 years old and is great TV. It's a car show that's a bit over produced with an over laboured script but still great TV. Thing that bugs me is that it's all about making JC look good - they should be past that by now. James May can drive a car fast. I don't trust the outcome of the race.
