Recently bought a Leon Cupra R 210 on an 03 plate with 106K on the clock. No record of the cambelt being done. The other day it started overheating when accelerating. My mate who's a mechanic had a look and said its the waterpump. Took off the hose connected to the waterpump and the water slowly dribbled out rather than squirting. Im going to get the cambelt and waterpump done this week but didn't know if the overheating could be another problem. Theres no fault codes thrown up so hopefully its just the pump. Is there anything else that could be causing it to overheat?

Cheers, Alex.

think the impellers on the factory pumps are plastic and they get very brittle and fall apart meaning they can't pump water properly so sounds reasonable to me. (changed a mates a4 1.8t cambelt at 150k at 8 years old and the plastic vanes were extremely brittle to the touch)

I don't know, but the schedule on the cambelt according to

http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2...

is 60,000 miles. I would have got it done as soon as the car was bought TBH. They also say to get the waterpump done at the same time as it can fail.

Alright cheers, Im gonna get it sorted this week. Even if it has been done, there's no record of it so I'll get it done just for my own peace of mind
