Here's a question for all 3 categories of this forum.

Can you please list the names and max. speeds (in mph) of the fastest such manned vehicles? A photo of each would also be nice.

Water Speed Record: World & UK

Airspeed Record: World & UK manufactured or co-manufactured aircraft (not space vehicles). I would also be interested in sub-dividing this category into piston-engined, jet-engined and rocket-propelled aircraft).

Railway Speed Record: World & UK

I was kind of relying on that old fashioned thing called "knowledge" for answers!

Believe it or not we didn't have Google back in the olden days. wink

Shamelessly copied from wikipedia about the UK train speed records :
A Class 91, 91010 (now 91110) holds the British locomotive speed record at 162 mph (261 km/h), set on September 17, 1989, just south of Little Bytham on a test run down Stoke Bank with the DVT leading. Although both Class 370s (APT)and Class 373s (Eurostar)have run faster, both types are EMUs, which means that the Electra is officially the fastest locomotive in Britain.
On 30 July 2003, on the opening press run of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link Section 1, Eurostar 3313/14 set a new British rail speed record of 334.7 kilometres per hour (208.0 mph), breaking the previous-held record of 259.5 kilometres per hour (161.2 mph) set by an Advanced Passenger Train on 20 December 1979.[
