Was my old Landy a S1?
Discussion
Nope, its definitely a Series 1....one of the last but even so definitely an S1.
Have a look at Google Images and you'll be able to see the differences. The main one is that its quite considerably narrower than an S2, it hasn't got the 'barrel sides' that the S2/S3/ST1V8/Defender has.
Engine wise, it could well have had the 2.25 petrol transplanted at some point or it may have been fitted from the factory - I'm not 100% up on the exact specifications.

No, that's not a Series I Land Rover.
There's no such thing.
There's a Land Rover, introduced in 1948 which was superceded by the Series II Land Rover and then the Series III Land Rover, but there has never been a Series I, it was just called a Land Rover. It's a bit like Elizabeth the first was never called that until our queen was crowned.

I bet you always correct people when they refer to the Great War as the "First" World War too? There's no such thing.
