Hi Midlanders

Can anyone recommend me a good Indian restaurant ideally within walking distance or short taxi ride of Broad Street.

Birmingham is famous for its curries so hopefully you can give a good list smile

Thanks in advance

there is a curry house on broadstreet, upstairs around the aussie bar area. only used it once and had been drinking so cant say what its like for sure but i seem to remember it was ok and its on broad street so no walking/taxi. there is also one in the mailbox which i tried with some friends a couple of years ago and that was NOT good, we sent the food back and left. One i use frequently is the kolkata lounge in stirchley, this is very good imo but a bit far out from broad street.

You might as well suffer the stiffer prces in the town centre by the time you've added the taxi charge in and out.
As an alternative there is a good Thai on Broad Street, Thai Edge, which has always been good value, and very authentic food, but you MUST book as it gets very busy:

Thanks all. I have booked the "Blue Mango". It has good reviews and they were the only ones that answered the phone!

Best place I've been to near the city centre has been Shere Khan in Star City. It's a 10-15 minute taxi ride from Broad Street, but there's the odd bar there too. If you don't like the food, there's a KFC, Nandos and Pizza Hut too smile

If you are on the Bearwood side of town the try Banu http://banuindian.tripod.com/ ,done us very good Indian food for years.
If you are near Stirchley then the Bengal Chaa always used to be good when we lived there.

Alternatively try http://www.birminghamplus.com/default.asp for the latest food reviews from the locals, they can uncover some real good quality places.

Went there last week on the back of Tripadvisor, it was superb! Expensive, but excellent.
