2001 Yaris 1.3 vvti timing chain?

Got a bit of an issue with a Yaris, chain like clatter from the drivers side of engine. Clatter happens hot or cold below 2k revs only, combined with poor performance. Noise/lack of power vanishes above 2k revs.

I'm guessing chain/tentioner needs sorting, just wondering if there is anything VVT related i need to know about? I'm guessing issue vanishes above exactly 2k revs as tension is taken up in the chain, or is something vvt related? It stops at exactly 2k.

Any help would be brill, the car is 2001 1.3 yaris auto with 60k miles and serviced on the button. Noise started after the last oil change. Started with clatter at hot start under 2k revs, now clatter/poor performance under 2k revs hot or cold.
