Does anyone else with (namby-pamby, poncy,'not-in-the-spirit-of-the-Elise-too-much-weight'!!) central locking find that the remote button has a range of about 18 inches from the drivers door, or is it just me? It's been the same from new.

My last car with remote central locking could be locked/unlocked from about 50 yards, but the Lotus needs you to be really close, and even then there are some 'blind spots'.

Where abouts is the actual sensor located?

Range generally isnt that great, but on all the ones ive used is a lot better than 18inches, 3 or 4 feet at least, probably more

That makes such a difference when you're running up to it in the rain! That's the main reason for the post at this time - I got soaked trying to get in to the d**m car today. "It's called 'Character'"

Try holding the remote to your head when you press the button, increases the range loads. Don't know why

I've got an '04 model Elise S and I have the same problem - not a huge pain I'll admit but when you've stepped out in a car park and as always the car attracts admiring glances, you look a bit of a t*t trying to lock it with the fob thingy and it never seems to work first time!!

Uses your head as an antenna.

Dunno, I think I'd prefer to get rained on!

my current 02 model doesnt have centrallocking and the alarm has to be at the drivers door for it to disarm

I did have an 04 courtesy elise S courtesy car with central locking

Was very impressed with the increased range.

Was 10 metres.
