OH dear gear drive cover problem

Gone to change gearing. Both threads are stripped in the locator bolts that position the cover. Impossible to helical I think because location shoulder is 7mm so that is the biggest tap I can put in. Ouch. Any ideas?

Chemical metal then redrill and tap?

If its just the cover you should be fine. We have used it oh high pressure areas and it works lovely.
