Bread recipe - can I halve the ingredients.....
Discussion
Thanks for the replies.
I'd guess it might help if I give you the recipe then you'd be better placed to answer!
Not fully cooking it might not work as it only cooks for 15 minutes.
MC - give me a recipe for this sourdough bread and I'll give it a try.
Anyway here's the recipe - so dmitsi - can I really just halve it?
450 flour
350 ml water
9g salt
4g sugar
15ml olive oil
7g bread maker yeast
I put the above in the bread maker on the dough cycle - but as I can be a bit lazy with my liquid measurement I check the consistency of the dough and add a bit of flour in it's needed. But it does need to be a sticky type dough.
At the end of the cycle I put in a a floured bread board and very roughly divide up into about 12 rolls.
Cook at 200c (fan oven) for 15 minutes.

Try making sourdough bread. This doesn't go stale like yeast-leavened bread.
(Although in my place it generally doesn't hang around for long enough.)
Hmm you are so right, cannot beat it yummy :-)(Although in my place it generally doesn't hang around for long enough.)

Yes you can. So for 500g flour, you would use 7g bread maker yeast/15g of dried active yeast or 30g fresh yeast.I'd guess it might help if I give you the recipe then you'd be better placed to answer!

So flour to yeast is the key, other ingredients follow. Make sure not to over salt as it kills the yeast. I don't know how the bread makers work, but hand making bread, always mix the yeast with half the required warm water to activate. Then just add the remaining water to the dough mix.
500 = 7/15/30
250 = 4/8/15
125 = 2/4/8
If the rolls are only taking 15 mins to cook. Take them out five mins early and freeze them, then finish them off for 5-10 mins.
