Hi all,
I'm new on here. Just sold my Subaru Impreza WRX STi Sportwagon, 1997, sadly! I now have a Seat Leon Cupra T 2001 & after firing up fine, it then conks out after 30 secs or so! Even when I rev it to keep it going it's still not great.

I would really appreciate it if anyone has any advice & whether this is a common problem.

Many thanks for your help

Jay

I had an a8 that did this, turned put to be a throttle position sensor. Basically as soon as the ecu wanted a reading it was getting a dodgy reading so shut the engine down to protect itself. Get a vag-com reading done and see if you get tps warning.

I had similar problems and finally got it sorted this time last year after 6 months off the road.

Car would start and cut out, foot on accelerator and start it would rev then cut out.

After checking loads of stuff it turned out to be a melted resistor behind the instrument cluster causing no communication between the cluster and ecu.

I had various suggestions along the way like immobiliser not turning off, faulty fuel pump, relays, fuses etc.

Oh another thought is to check all boost hoses for splits

Yes very £800

But this included all the investigations from the garage, auto sparks time and £175 to fix the cluster.

Before this another garage said ecu was knacked but i didn't believe them so got the car transported for £100 to Star Performance in Kirkcaldy who finally fixed it.

I would check the simple things first tho like hoses, coilpacks, etc and its very handy if you know someone with Vag Com.

Also try asking on seatcupra.net as its great for help on these cars.
