New Diesel Range Rover Sport SE or New Diesel Q7 S-line Plus.

Both with extras (sat nav, heated seats, etc) to make them a similar specification and over all price but which would you choose?

I have asked the same question in the Audi section to see what they have to say!

Hahaha... I think you know what each section are going to say.

The only real way is to take them both for a drive yourself.

...the only other thing I'd add is remember that buying a RRS supports British jobs and the British manufacturing industry. wink

(...and it's proper good off-road!!)

Good Morning,

I've had both. Well had the Q7 3.0 TD S-Line and got a RRS SDV6 HSE.

The Q7 was a great car but I prefer the RRS. Hard to say exactly why but the seating position and the vastly superior off road ability shade it for me. If I listed the individual plus points the Q7 would probably win on paper but, for some reason, I prefer the RRS. The Sport seems to have a certain ruggedness that was missing on the Q7. I would suggest that the HSE is the one to go for if you can stretch it. As soon as you hit the extras list on the SE you are pretty close price wise anyway. Mine is Orkney with black leather and I have the Piano black inlays in place of the wood. The interior really is a nice place to be. I got mine from Shukers in Shrewsbury and thay were a delight to deal with.

Not sure what you drive at the moment but be prepared for big running costs. Both seem similar on fuel - I get and got approx 27 mpg. The Q7 needed new tyres at approx 10k and I expect that the Sport might be similar.

Both great cars.

Thanks for the reply's, i am running a Jeep Commander at the moment which only gets 19mpg so running costs on the RRS or the Q7 will be better than what i am getting at present!

going for the HSE over the SE with the extras i want adds a further £4000+ which is really stretching the budget as it will be on a company contract lease for 4 years and puts the monthly rental over the allowed amount!

After loads of test driving every 4x4 in the market and even more test driving the RRS and Q7 as the two on the top of my list the one now sitting in my drive way is a new Audi Q7 S-line Plus.
I have had it for a few weeks now and have done a lot of different driving with it and have to say i think i have made the correct choice over the RRS, as much as i liked the RRS the Q7 is just that cut above and with the RRS coming in more expensive pre month that was its final nail in the coffin for it. i would say the Q7 is a little closer to the Range Rover than the RRS is but at a better price than both!

Wow... 10k and new tyres?

I've done 160k miles with my RRS and I'm halfway on my third set of tyres....

I've done 14k and reckon that they've got about 5k left in them.

Congratulations to the OP on the new car.
