Sweden short break: where to go, what to do?
Discussion
Had a work trip come up at fairly short notice going to Gothenburg early next week, the bonus being my lovely lady is flying out to join me Wedenesday evening after the work is done, and following that the next commitment we have is a Eurotunnel ticket from Calais back to the UK on Sunday afternoon. So that gives Thursday to Sunday to see a few things and travel back on a bit of a road trip down through Sweden and over the funky bridges to Denmark, down to Germany, across Holland, Belgium and France ish.
So given that we've got a few days with wheels, what would you recommend to do and see?
It's my gf's first trip to Sweden. I've spent an afternoon on Marstrand on a previous trip, but thinking to head there again if the wind isn't blowing. Stayed in Varberg too previously. Would like to see more of Gothenburg so that's on the cards. Any nice countryside bits nearby for a hilly drive and may be a walk if the weather plays ball? Where else to stop off on the return journey, Copenhagen?

Trollhatten looks interesting and is nearby so that's on the itinerary. Stockholm is too far in the wrong direction to make it worthwhile travelling there, reserved for a dedicted long weekend away in the future. Copenhagen on the way back it is.
sneijder, I've done around 80km west of London to Gothenburg via the Eurotunnel comfortably in 2 days travelling up there last time. Day 1 I covered the UK, the little bit of France, Belgium and Holland which a pretty unremarkable slog just ploughing through them, Germany was more fun for the speed aspect of it and I stayed overnight near Hamburg. Day 2 was fun through the top of Germany because of the sparse traffic on the Autobahn, Denmark was a boring slog after cruising through Germany at pace, but the 2 big bridges and little tunnel to Sweden are a pleasure for engineering geeks. Sweden becomes more interesting the further north you travel with the scenery. I do the trip for a reason, not so sure I'd cover it for pleasure unless I really wanted my own car at the other end of it. On the other hand, doing it as a tour stopping off at various places off the beaten track en route could be fun.

The SAAB Museum is worth a look - before it goes! Next door is Innavatum - great fun. Make sure you time your visit to catch them opening the Sluice Gates - v.dramatic in a good way. The town centre is a bit "Basildon" but saved by Butlers and (IIRC) the Kings Head pubs. Plenty of nice watering holes along the river.Don't forget to wear your sunglasses. Even if it's not sunny - if you know what I mean
