Cheers Honestbob thumbup
I already have them in mind as well as a place called Ondrives. Anyone know of any others?

If i'm honest what i am looking for is a really cheap source of plastic gears and racks i can experiment with before i bite the bullet and order some precision steel stuff scratchchin

Apart from the kudos of the random query, only exceeded by the lightning response, we now need to know what you're making!!

Its something i have been working on for a while, suffice to say if it works i will be retiring early wink The only problem is that i know sweet f.a about gears. I have learnt loads from the HPC Gears catalogue and am a quick learner but just struggling to find the bloody things i need.

Looked into model shop stuff but they tend to either be imperial brass stuff for model train types or very specific plastic parts foe radio control cars and what not. Neither of which are quite right.

Yeah, thanks. thumbup I have used them before. They only have a limited range and they don't do gears that are bossless? (i think that's what its called)

HPC gears basically IS Ondrives
Ondrives is an offshoot. I did my HND placement there in 1985.
In terms of cheap catalogue gears, which have to be size you state, I really don't think you will find anyone cheaper, who makes gears to order i.e. machines to suit.
You could try Davall who make injection moulded gears which are much cheaper but you would have to adapt them to what you want.
I think you will get hammered by the minimum order charge in both cases
Alternatively, try these guys, although they are using Imperial nominated teeth, DP not module.

I know a chap who built a CNC laser cutter. He makes all sorts of clever stuff!I have seen gears he has cut into perspex for demo purposes. He also made a set of tesselations for me.I could put you onto him if you think there is a remote chance of it being helpful
