Day trip to Afan

I know this topic has probably been done to death but search isn't working on my phone.
I really want to visit Afan and if I leave early I reckon I could justify a single day trip there.
I was planning in taking a day off and going on a week day, assuming it will be quieter than weekends if I avoid half term?
I ride almost every weekend and a couple of weeknights in a medium pace group doing 20-25 mile rides at a weekend and don't have massive issues with keeping up at the end.
Is Afan the sort of place people tend to advise riding in a group? Is it quite remote or is it fine riding the trails alone (assuming I don't get lost) - from the point of view of breaking something and being stuck, not being kidnapped lol.

I ride there solo all the time, frankly even if you turned up on the first sunny weekend in spring you wouldn't be exactly tripping over other riders once you leave the centre. So you might be better off going on the weekend for 'a solo', you'll never be all that far from civilisation (except on the further parts of Skyline) but if you have a fall and can't get going again under your own steam someone will come along reasonably quickly.I really want to visit Afan and if I leave early I reckon I could justify a single day trip there.

You wont get lost, everything is signposted and you mostly just 'follow your nose'.
You'll have a great ride on ether The Wall or Whites, the wall is riding nicer at the moment it's had some new bits built and a lot of maintenance work whereas White's is a bit of a wreck right now.
W2 is basically The Wall and White strung together with some fireroad. Skyline is hugely long, but it's lots of painfully boring fireroad, pointless climbing and overgrown singletrack, I wouldn't bother.

all the trials are really well signposted and there is always someone else around riding the trails in case of an emergency but the best advice is to have enough spares with you to get you home not necessarily to resolve the issue on the side of the trail.
its worth ringing ahead to see if the showers are working, they usually are but its a pain if they arent.

Quick towel down and into your civies, get in the car, heater on full with your flask of hot soup and you'll be fine!
