I recently changed my steering wheel from 300 upto 350mm and while it's better to haul around at low speeds I can't help but feel it doesnt feel as direct on the move.
Any thoughts. Search facility not working at the minute before anybody says it.

The largest one the factory do is 320mm.

I probably need a 350mm one to be able to see the top of my instruments. What make is yours Steve?

Reminds me of an Austin Allegro!!!!!!!!

Have you found it interferes with the gear knob (if it's on the right). Andy suggested that it might be a problem with a 350mm wheel.

As you know Steve, mocking up the Racetech Dash2 with the 320mm wheel I had, meant I couldn't see the dash in full. Been forced down 350mm size, choosing the Momo Nero

Piccy here of said wheel with me comparing whether to keep plastic bit in centre or not

I remember when I changed from the Atom to the GT3, I thought I was driving a bus with the size of the steering wheel, but soon got used to it.

I took a while one this one, but in the end went for the OMP Kubic. That is pretty small and works fine and I have never thought about or felt the need to change it.

I think this only effects standing turns, at any speed you would not notice much IMO.

Do you really need to see the top of the instruments? I can't in mine but can see all the stuff and rev increments I need to.

Wheel obscures the top of the instruments in the 5 series too.....

350 is pretty big in that small cockpit I think?

I tend to agree with this, you tend to monitor these cars by ear as much as by the clocks. My car has a rev counter with a string of lights attached which go from green to red as you wind the revs up. Can't say I take a blind bit of notice of it on the move, it's more ornament and bulls""t than function.

Hi Steve,

They are shift lights which come into their own when you want to get the most out of the engine without the fear of hitting the limiter.

On most days when not too bright, the lights actually reflect on the inside of the windscreen so you don't even have to look down to see them (unless the larger steering wheel gets in the way?).

Martin.

Hi Martin, yes I appreciate the use of these things it's just something I can't seem to pay much attention to, I've driven Ferrari's etc with them and I never found them much help. Usually to worried to look down when I'm I'm hitting the rev limiter(-:
