Engines in! and running 90%, she needs running in & a good RR set-up next.

Just a DIY Chassis refurb to do over the next couple of months, and then she's ready for the summer! (well if you can call it that up here in Aberdeen!).

Been over 18 months off the road, so I'm itching to see how she goes now!

a video clip below!

Any ideas of what sort of BHP / Torque figues I can expect?

Ian.

I'm hoping to achieve around 320BHP with good manners around town etc.
She was a strong engine before the rebuild, with the previous owners (mr. & mrs. T as posts above!) Modifying her with the ACT bits and MA remap.

The increased capacity is from increasing the stroke, the static CR is 11.2, and the pistons have been machined to to help avoid knock. Will need to use octane booster in each tankful.

The paint is just matt black, I will post pics of the under body tidy up as progresses. Body coulor is ' Camel yellow'

Mine is either a 5.2 or a 5.4,think the later. This was achieved with brass gaskets with the aim to decrease the compression for the blower. If there is a mathemathician out there, how much do you need to increase the individual cylinder height to make it a 5.4 litre ?

Hi Ian, Good to see another Chim in 'Sunny' Aberdeen. Lets hope we get a better summer this year. I'll certainly be looking out for your car.

Not sure on the Power / Torque figures to expect, but would have thought 320 should be easily achievable provided you can get the mapping right. My V8D 5.0l is at about that figure now with fuel only Megasquirt. Will be installing coil packs shortly before putting it back on the rolling road to see what it will achieve. I expect the next bottleneck might be the injectors.

Why would a gasket give you more cc ?I thought more cc can only be achieved by a larger bore and longer stroke.

But its the area between the piston and head that gives the CC's

confused

So what is a gasket going to do .. it`s eather bored out more and a shorter piston and larger crank giveing more cc

It's stroke times bore, always has been always will be. simples. Challenge anyone to tell me different...

ETA: its otherwise known as displacement.

I thought loweing the Cr is just for forced induction ..higher the better for naturally aspirated then you need upgraded parts..for some reason! pistons etc

Good sounds and impressive torque reaction when you blip the throttle - clearly visible when the camera is sat behind the car.

Quite like that colour too even though I wouldn't choose a yellow one.
