Since most of the time we're keen to criticise companies for not doing the right thing, I thought that today I would praise Sytner at Derby Audi. I bought my A6 on Audi Finance and at the time this included 2 years of servicing. Through saving hard I paid off the finance totally within 12 months of taking it out, leaving me with a car that had only had 1 service done in the time. When it came to booking in for a service I was surprised to be told that the service contract was still on the car. As I had paid off the finance I was fully expecting a £400 bill of course.

Around lunchtime today I come out of a meeting and check my voicemail to be asked to ring Audi, bracing myself for a severe weakening of my credit card. Their service adviser told me that although I'd taken out the service contract, at the time Audi were running two promotions - a 1 service in 2 years contract on some used cards and a 2 service in 2 years contract on others (model dependent). My car was apparently on the former scheme. As I got the credit card out the adviser then explained that since it was a grey area and VW wouldn't pay, the dealership had decided to honour the cost anyway and pay for the service. So I now have a fully serviced A6 that I haven't paid for and VW haven't paid for. Well done Sytner, you weren't even the dealership I bought it from but you understand what kind of thing helps customer experiences.

They were excellent when I bought my BM from their Leicester branch too.

Highly recommended.
