TVR buyers are generally pretty clued up and know what to look for.
Alarm bells sound with this add for me because:
"Tuscan 4s"...What's one of those? Hope he's not trying to pass it off as a Tuscan S?
No mention of any engine rebuild
No mention of a new clutch
Horrid old school orange indicator lenses and repeaters.
Does it or doesn't it have AC? A previous owner suggests not.
Doesn't have the updated radio pod with the door buttons. It must be a very very very early car and all that entails.
Mileage is ridiculously low for a 12 year old car. Only 1,400 miles per year?? Why? What's wrong, been wrong with it?
At that age and such lack of use all the rubbers, seals, hoses and bushings have probably had it. Its probably full of all sorts of electrical gremlins as a result.
It's cheap but it will likely be a frustrating, and expensive ownership prospect.

My first Tuscan was a very early W reg.
Oh that car cost me a fortune alright.
I was advertised as an S and wasnt one
Engine lasted 34 miles
Bla bla bla bla cost another 12k or so
I didnt take action against the conman er... car dealer because I was already 25k into sueing my Solicitor.
BUT I loved it to bits.
Then I broke it to bits
My first impression is that it has had some work done, ie. spiders are not the original 16".
Must be worth a call with a few of Daves questions.
Oh and mine didnt have Aircon. I remember Mechanic trying to keep a straight face when I askiéd him how to turn the aircon on

It sold yesterday, to be fair to the seller he seemed open and a decent guy, he even had the courtesy to phone me up last night to inform me that it had been sold that day, most sellers would just ignore other potential buyers after they had sold there car.
It had a new clutch, but no engine rebuild, he was open about this, that is why he priced it low, even with that mileage.
He said it was not a Tuscan S, but on the log book it states Tuscan 4S, he said it had the the 380bhp engine and larger brakes, sounds like a Red Rose version.

Doesn't look like the AP front brakes to me, 18" Spiders were added after market (standard on a RR), and the indicators were white on a RR too...It had a new clutch, but no engine rebuild, he was open about this, that is why he priced it low, even with that mileage.

yr 2000 cars dont handle well, not nice to drive, hence low milage
Mine has 50k miles, 5k from me in the last 12 months. Standard shocks etc, just spacers. It will get new shock this year, but you implythat they are so bad that they are virtually undriveable, and that is patently wrong.I would also say that on a track or a smooth A/B road then they are very good, its bumpy nearside edges that unsettle the car.
With the car in question, I would say lack of info on re-builds is the biggest question. Plus at that mileage if its on the original clutch that is also a risk

Hi All,
I'm the poor unfortunate who bought the car, I was really excited about my purchase until I read some of the comments on here. As I'm not as clued up as I thought I was it looks like I'll be seeking your collective help and counselling. The car's not far from me and I'm collecting it next weekend. So assuming it makes it the 12 miles home what's the first thing I do.. set fire to it or tackle the front end ? If we vote not to fire bomb it I'd appreciate an idiots guide to improving the front end.
I imagine this will be the first of many posts so thanks in advance...
Now where did I leave the Swan Vesta's.

I think it is a good looking car.
Its not necessarily a time bomb, some have gone to 40 or 50k miles before a rebuild.
Before you mess with the front end, search the forums about tyres size and front spacers, get the geo done, and see what it's like then.
A top on the engine, if you take the car to TVR Power and they inspect the engine and are happy with it, they will sell you a warranty. Good for peace of mind.

Just back from having the bandages on my wrists changed.
I think it's a good looking car too.
Just go out and enjoy it, it looks a nice car. Yes it may need a few things done to it, but for that price and mileage, it is a good buy. I was going to buy it with a rebuild in mind in the future.I think it's a good looking car too.
