RE: SOTW: Mk2 Volkswagen Golf GTI
Discussion
Amongst many cars, I still kept my Mk2 car, which is identical to this as a 5 door 8 valve. No it's not 'boo', it's brilliant. My 1992 J plate only differs to this weeks shed with a rainbow interior and a couple of electrical extras, other than that it achieved similar mileage at 192k
Oh....did I mention my car also still had original clutch and headgasket????
Put that in your pipe and smoke it Mr Modern Car.
Shed of the Week???
I guess it is technically as it falls into the PH 'shed' catchment......but to me it's much much more.
Just the best fun car going. Solid, incredibly reliable, quick enough for real life A and B roads, and a fantasticaly chuckable chassis.
It responds very well to a few sensible chassis improvements with poly bushes, coilovers and ARB's and a proper alignment check.. No it doesn't need to be 'slammed' to do this.
Mines now parked up, stripped and will be born again to last another 2 decades, but a bit more bionic this time around. (No - no 1.8T b
ks - yuck) though will still look very 5 door 8 valve stock.
Golf? no, Wolf!
