Flying from NYC to Orange County Airport - Any advice?

Hello everybody,

Mrs and I are heading to NYC in January next year for our honeymoon and after enquiring with Tim Hendricks he has said he will tattoo us(!) so we are heading over to Costa Mesa for a few days.

Anyone flown this route or flown internally in the States?

Any advice? Best people to fly with etc?

Just trying to get my head around it so I can do a bit of planning with renting cars etc.

The only direct flight to John Wayne Airport in Orange County is Continental, but if you fly into LAX which is only an hour or so away you'll have a massive choice.

Just fly into LAX, will get cheaper flights and it's only 45 mins down the I-405 (you'll need a rental car anyway)

Best airline by far, IMO, would be Virgin America, the United 2nd.

Jet Blue might be worth a look too - not sure what routes they do now but used to go into Orange County a fair bit. Budget airline but decent legroom and free Direct TV.
