Hi guys, wonder if you can help, sold a set of wheels recently and buyer is looking to have them collected via courier.
I seem to recall that securicor will do the job for approx £40.
Can anyone confirm this with details if possible or recommend anyone else for same job please.

Thanks in advance

I've frequently used www.wheelcarrier.co.uk and it's been fine.

It seems to be increasingly difficult to find a tradtional couriers who will ship wheels fitted with tyres (although the linked website appears to be an exception up to 17").

I first thought that the couriers just didn't want to be held liable for damage to rims as we all know, if you let certain designs of wheel fall on their faces, the 'spokes' can get damaged even if tyres are fitted...

However, perhaps it's more to do with the individual weights as a wheel/tyre combo can easily come up over 25kg or even over 32kg for larger 4x4s.

The solution may have to be a pallet delivery..

I'm certainly not questioning your experience but on the Paisley Freight website they don't appear to 'offically' offer a service for tyres fitted to wheels larger than 17" and there is no metion of how they expect you to prepare them if you are worried that they might get damaged. ie. fully boxed, or otherwise wrapped etc....

They also don't appear to want you to use their booking calculator to work out an alternative price for the weight and dimensions which seems a bit odd.

All highly confusing although I'm sure that Paisley themsleves would be best placed to confirm what they can do over over the phone.

P.S. I hit problems elsewhere when I was looking for help last year with other courier firms and gave up.

Try this company http://www.simpsontransport.com/index.html

These are the best couriers I've ever used & I've used a few !
No need to package the wheels or tyres at all. They wrap them in blankets ! No need for labels or anything.
Doesn't matter what size or weight or how many. No messing great local firm near me.
They deliver to & collect from north to south daily.
Maybe not all areas are covered or Scotland but I'am not sure give them a ring and find out.

Everything arrives in perfect condition not just wheels anything, not really any more expensive than your ebay couriers or Parcel Force etc.
Google paisley & the rest .......your answer is there.

Drop my name you might get a discount or not!
Good Luck

Second for http://www.simpsontransport.com/index.html.

Used them on the basis of the above recommendation and could not be happier. Communicative, friendly and accommodating. Wheels arrived quicker than agreed in perfect condition, no packaging, no labelling required.

If you want to deal with real people rather than faceless corporates, go with these guys!

I see someone below has mentioned Paisley Freight. I used them recently to ship a set of GT3 wheels and tyres from Plymouth to Manchester and all was fine.
Just make sure you put a peice of thick card on inside and outside to protect rims and then wrap whole thing in bubblewrap and you'll be fine.
They arrived in perfect condition and I think were actually transported by TNT.

Yet another +1 for Paisley.

I've used recently and they list alloys + tyres for sizes up to 19" on their website. I actually sent a set of 19" alloys with them a few weeks back which was sub contracted through TNT.

Good service, just make sure they are packaged well.

I always use P4D at work. Easy to use calculator online, so you exactly how much the service will cost.

I started using Simpson Transport earlier in the year on the back of finding this thread and numerous shoddy performances by other couriers. They are absolutely brilliant and provide a personal service which all of my clients greatly appreciate. They travel nationwide at very competitive rates-they are based in Scarborough, Yorkshire and I am based in West Sussex and they still make sense for me to use!! I cannot recommend them highly enough.
