Thinking of buying RR vogue diesel
Discussion
Please go easy this is my first post !
I am a 23 year old female looking to buy a RR Vogue. Around 03/ 04 with mileage of less than 100,000. I wonder if anyone can help me and let me know what I should be looking for in terms of buying a car thats not going to cost me thousands as it's needs loads of work doing.
I also think I would have a warranty on it can any one recommend a good company and is the 6month warranty that a garage would sell it with worth the paper it's written on.
Thanks Look forward to hearing your replies.

Hi,
I have just sold my second Vogue diesel. An 04 with 104,000 trouble free miles. I even sold it to a friend. I am buying a Sport for a change.
The LR warranty is very expensive (roughly a grand by the time it has its inspection too) but different on cars over 5 years old.
I bought a car last year with a warrantywise warranty but it was almost worthless!
Great cars, buy one.
Lots of choice out there. Do some good research on here.
Good luck

Hi there - I've just sold my 04 Diesel after 3 years of great service. My advice on points to look for..
- Check air suspension all works
- Tyres for even wear as these cars are heavy on suspension bushes, same goes for brake pads
- Gearbox can be troublesome I hear after 80k miles, though mine was fine
- Check all electrics work
- Fuel burning heater can develop a mind of its own and hence drain battery
If the above look bad, bear in mind these are just points to look for, not necessarily saying they'll be troublesome.
I would also advise looking at a few as the condition varies a lot - I would say in your age / miles range you could get one for £11k to £13k (this would be a top end example). Don't just plump for the first one you see, there are plenty around.
re costs of running, I averaged 23 mpg all in, on a motorway run I got about 26mpg. So very 100 miles will be about £24 at todays diesel prices.
As previous poster mentions, Full fat forum is very useful
Happy hunting !

Don't rule out V8s either. If you're gentle you'll see nearly 20mpg on unleaded. Keep an eye out for LPG conversions as well (giving 30mpg equivalent cost). The gearboxes are also generally better than the TD6 (different type).
driving a 4.4 V8 - you'd have to be incredibly gentle to get nearly 20mpg in my experienceand to do so you would spoil the fun of having such a great engine

I don't own a RR but a good friend of mine recently bought a 4.4 V8 with a view to converting to LPG, so here's my unbiased opinion for what it's worth....
On a quick trip to the local Indian takeaway where he was 'demo'ing' on the way there and I had a proper play on the way back we managed a rather impressive 8mpg!
The following day we wafted gently into town and back, 14 miles each way on A roads with four up and a baby and achieved 17mpg.
What a machine! If I did low miles and didnt tow a caravan I'd have one in a heartbeat, but afraid I couldn't live with that consumption day to day and it would be significantly worse when towing.

Hi
I have an 02 4.4 v8 FFRR on LPG this car has been LPG converted from new and drives brilliant I get 13MPG on gas mainly around town driving or pulling a horse Trailer. The MPG does not change much when towing the horse box.
Faults I have had with the car are, Torque converyer required overhaul, radiator leaked and required replacement and some tuning issues with the LPG. I had the torque converter overhauled for £150 removed and fitted myself while I had the gearbox out the valve block was overhauled by a chap on the range rover forum called RRphil, the filter and oil was also changed ful cost was just over £300. The radiator was £200 again fitted myself. The LPG I bought the software and again tuned it myself.
They are a very nice car but can come with very hefty bills so choose carefuly.
