So over the last week, the CRV (1999 2.0l) has developed a creak from the front end. It only seems to creak when at a standstill or at low speeds. High speeds (over 25ish) is quiet as always.

Now I've done a bit of investigating and found that it creaks when turning the steering wheel from side to side, just a tiny bit. If you turn it quicker or further, it doesn't. I can also recreate the creak when bouncing the suspension at the front or rocking either front wheel slightly.

I've sprayed lubricant onto any joint that is suspension related that I can find but still no luck. The noise seems to come and go though but is there most of the time.

Anyone any ideas what I can try? Google has brought up a number of results but the majority seems like guess work, including people saying it's the rear diff grinding, even though the OP has said its from the front...

So, any ideas? Last thing I want to do is throw money at replacing random parts to get rid of a creak.

I don't know about the front suspension set up on your car but my Mondeo had a similar issue, turned out to be worn wishbone bushes.

It's the usual crazy double wishbone Honda setup.

Just seems strange that it was literally silent one minute, I braked, it creaked, and it has been there ever since.
