I was filling up today at a Shell garage when I noticed this button above the diesel pump, it says "PRESS BUTTON TO DISPENSE DIESEL AT HIGH SPEED. FOR HGV USE ONLY." As tempting as it was to press it, I managed to restrain myself from finding out what it does. So, what would happen if I pressed this and filled my car up? Would it result in a messy diesel fountain? Is it the holy grail of instant fill-ups? It only appeared to be on the one pump that I was using, the other two I could see didn't have one.

push it next time and let us know.

I'd imagine if too much fuel comes out then it'll click thinking it's full as the pipe isn't wide enough to cope with the flow.

I have a feeling that you might have ended up having a diesel bath, next time you go try it, just remember to record the result for our entertainment (if it goes horribly wrong)

It assumes someone else is paying, overfills the tank and gushes onto the forecourt and the first three roundabouts that you go round

Don't the HGV only pumps dispense at 100 litres a minute?

They are a hell of a lot quicker. I've been second man in the cab a few times and the driver has rather sat in a queue of half a dozen trucks than use the car pump.

This thread is a disappointment. I thought it would be about a button in the car you could press at high speeds, to dispense diesel onto the road so the car behind spins and crashes in ball of flames...

dont think thats true to be honest,

We can fill a 270ltr tank in 4mins with our pumps, But the nozzle's and pipework is twice possibly 3times the size of the general forecourt stuff.

i work in a bus garage by the way

The conclusion of that first thread was rather disappointing, if it doesn't make much of a difference then why have a button and not dispense it slightly faster at all times?
