Repair of Abdominal Incisional Hernia
Discussion
Just wondering if there are any surgeons on here who may be able to shed some light on this one.
I had a gastrostomy for overnight feeding some years ago. When I ceased using it I had the tube removed but was of course left with a hernia. No bowel escape just a large lump on coughing, exercising, sitting up bending forward. No pain, just looks 'orrible!
Having made enquiries with my medical care team they advised me to see my GP for a referral. GP has done the letter but is 98% convinced that it will be rejected on the grounds of being cosmetic rather than medical.
Being a CF patient I'm not keen on too many GAs, I'll be due my 3rd in 9 months shortly for a new intravenous port, so open surgey under LA may be the best option.
So, any advice or ideas on how much this will cost privately would be very gratefully received.
I'm Googling my local Spire surgeons etc too.
Thanks
SF
ETA Given my ongoing medical condition insurance won't *cough up* for it.
