Track and first time 'ring project...ideas please
Discussion
Sorry if this has been done before but here goes.
Suggestions have been made that myself and a few mates might do a bit of a roadtrip to ze ring in the summer.
Now this obviously requires transport. By the summer my TVR will be gone (money for grown up stuff) but I was thinking of buying a project car now and tinkering with it over the next few months.
After a bit of pondering I thought how about a 944. Now I owned a minty S2 prior to my Chim and was massively impressed. Obviousley for this exercise I wont be looking at buying a minter so it will be an earlier car. So yes, I know it won't be quick etc.
So my thinking is 1k on a tatty but non rotten car and then maybe another 1500 on bits and pieces; good service (obviousley) new shocks, new discs and pads (and hoses probably) and some new rubber to finish. Then spend some time gutting it and sticking a couple of lightweight seats in.
I won't be paying for any labour so all the pennies can go on bits. I appreciate I wont get my money back but the end result would surely be saleable? although id hopefully just keep it
I guess the alternative is buy a car which somebody has already spent time and money on to sort but I see the actually project as enjoyable in itself!
Other potential cars I thought of were maybe an E36 or M1 MX5 (owned both) Not looking for silly speed, just something that is fun!
Any thoughts?
For the record i'm not a 17 year old troll with an imaginary Saxo....i'm 27 and a grown up
....well, usually.
