Can core plugs be replaced with the engine in situ and is it a pig of a job...?

I have got a drip coming from up under the exhaust manifold and it drips between the starter motor and the block, I have not had the car on ramps but it looks like it's in the area of the middle core plug....

DIY job or take to a garage and let them do it...?

Cheers guys

They can be done in situ but are a pain, has it just started leaking after th cold spell we are having?, core plugs dont tend to leak.

Don't know about the RV8 in particular but quite common for them to rust through as an engine gets older particularly if a good quality anti-freeze has not been used throughout its life.

And off course pop out if anti-freeze too weak/non existent

The car is off the road at the moment so I am not fussed how long it takes.

To be honest I noticed it a few months ago...the coolant level dropped a bit so I looked under the car after driving for a bit and there were a few drops of water.

There is no leak when it's cold, just a few drops after driving it for about 10 miles.

Really I need to get it up on ramps to see where it's coming from but it looks like it's the area where the middle core plug would be on the drivers side.
