Hi there, I've been lurking these forums on and off for a while smile

I'm off to south wales for the weekend (more specifically Swansea) and although the weather doesn't look great, I was hoping to visit some great driving roads whilst I'm in the area..

At the moment the only plan is to visit the A4069 - black mountain pass and get lost out in the countryside..

Are there any other 'must drive' roads in the area or are the all up north like the evo triangle? frown

cheers

I'm leaving at about 6am to get there a few hours before the snow/sleet/ice arrive... Hopefully!

I've been checking the weather all week but its not changed frown

I'd go another weekend - but it coincides with a family 'event'

Raining in Swansea at the moment but the black mountains are covered in snow (from last sun/mon) and all the surrounding roads are very slippy would advise against coming over pic from last sun on the A4069 just up from Brynaman

thanks for the reply smile

I decided to leave later due to the weather warnings.. Although when I arrived I noticed I couldnt see snow in swansea so I couldnt resist going for a drive!

I ended up having a good drive dispite the rain, but as I headed up the black mountain pass hehe it went from wet surroundings to traces of snow/sleet on the grass to snow/ice on the road to full blown snow everywhere to suddendly im up in a moutain in a snow storm hehe

if only you'd have posted a few hours earlier as I left at about 2.30pm on saturday

I parked up after someone heading the opposite way said it got worse and they got stuck.. So I had a little wonder for a few minutes and ended up getting asked by a number of extremely keen 4x4ers if I was stuck and needed a tow hehe

I' hoping to go for a spin somewhere depending on how the roads are. May have a look at the roads by Treorchy. They look quite twisty on Google maps
