Good point, what makes a replica a recreation? Original parts? Or is it jus a reason to sell ya car for more money?

Tribute is an an Americanism. Replica is English. Recreation is I'm not sure. But probably also bulllst.

Sad.

Like M5 badges on a 530 m sport.

Those who care or know what they're talking about, know it isn't the real thing and just pity the owner. Those who don't know or don't care, it simply doesn't matter what badge is attached..... So why bother!

See on merc and bm's all the time but only sometimes see the s added on turbo cars. Sometimes if bought used the non enthusiast may believe it's an S if the badge was already there. You also see it on adverts when they confuse an S model with tiptronic S.

A few years back there was an M3 CSL ring regular that was badged 318i. I liked that.

I hear some embarrassed Boxster Spyder owners are peeling the Boxster half of their rear badge off too. wink

Down badging is quite amusing.

Kept my 'boxster spyder' badge standard. Agree that taking the boxster bit off falls into dodgy ground. I others have done it, but it isn't to my taste. It is a boxster version, no shame in that.
