Hi All,
Just wondered what you guys think is the best automated car wash.
I recently had mine done at Essos the top wash think its about £10 and it was the best one id been to.
Agree with that. The Esso one near me does a very good job. Morrison ones seems to miss the middle of the rear of my car out and the Imo/Arc car washes seem to leave little white dots from the wax all over the car.Just wondered what you guys think is the best automated car wash.

car wash = scratches
If you are looking to keep your car in a museum, then maybe getting the pros in to do an anally retentive polish using the entire Auto Glym product range is for you. If you just have a car like the rest of the population does then the automated car washes are perfectly acceptable. I would expect that there is very little repeat business to be had if you car wash scratches peoples cars. Most of the swirls and half washed cars I see appear to have been done by hand, probably by their kids. I would never use an automated carwash on anything other than a van or a total wreck of a car ever since putting my brand new black punto through one and it leaving swirles over every panel.
I'd much rather give my money to the local illegal immigrants.

Arc £5 wash, never had any issues with swirls or white dots etc even on black. On my banger I usually go for the cheaper £2 wash, no fancy foam or wax, but you still get the attendant jet wash which does a good enough job on the wheels.
The handwash places never do as good a job and they don't dry the car afterwards.

I did this about 18 months ago...

Take one car, correct half the bonnet to perfect. Take to car wash....(ARC) and see the now not so perfect half of bonnet...
ETA. I've no issue with people using car washes or the local hand car wash, we all have different needs and not everyone is that fussed...

Most cars on the road have paint which is full of fine scratches, at least to the extent that machine polishing would make a huge difference. Most people, however, find that quality of finish acceptable and don't pay any attention to the swirl marks. They aren't going to notice the effects of another pass through the car wash.

+1And I say that as someone who has way way too much detailing gear. Majority of motorists couldn't give a flying monkey about swirls. As long as it looks clean to them, is quick and doesn't cost much they don't care.
