Thinking of going for a set of Yoko AD08s (265/35/R18, 235/40/R18 - about £800).... comments?
I was considering the well tested R888s or Trofeos. Speaking to a supplier i know well they said the time attack went from R888s to Trofeos and a lot of the drivers didn't think they were as good? Haven't a couple of you tried them, Adrian i think??
Anyone got experience of the Yokos AD08s, i've been told they are similar in performance to the R888s!
where are people buying R888s from these days?

With 888's or similar they are ideal for Time Attack or TOTB type events as you can immediately get on the power with little or near minimal warming up time.
That is the probable reason why Trofeo's aren't appropriate for them type events like Corsa's wouldn't be either perhaps as both will need to be up to temperature to achieve full grip, well Corsa's certainly do anyway.
I'm testing the Trofeo's out shortly once car is back, if they don't perform I'll be back on Corsa's again, once Corsa's are to temperature grip is limpit though its said the Trofeo's have around 15% more grip then the Corsa, time will tell.
Hopefully a day at Silverstone, Spa then Ring plus the road leading from the Ring entrance to the Pistonclause, that should be sufficiant enough to know if the Trofeo's are any good.

'Fraid you won't be going back to Corsas - they are now discontinued. Had Trofeos on the front for about 4 months now, but tbh I don't notice any difference from the Corsas. Rear Trofeos will go on after the current Corsas are shagged, probably by the time I get back from Iberia trip at the end of Feb. 2 things I have noticed is that the Trofeos are AA rated (Corsas AAA) and you only get 5mm of tread from brand new That is the probable reason why Trofeo's aren't appropriate for them type events like Corsa's wouldn't be either perhaps as both will need to be up to temperature to achieve full grip, well Corsa's certainly do anyway.

I have had 3 Trofeo's for over 6 months (one was lost in transit) & Pirelli last month sent me the 4th (rear) due to been out of stock for the rear size 265, prior to 4th being delivered they offered to take the 3 Trofeo's back & offer me a full set of Corsa's Directional with cash adjustment. I declined & waited for the 4th Trofeo.
No suppliers or distributers in the UK have any but Pirelli by the sounds still have stock albeit perhaps limited...
I'm tempted to get a couple of sets anyway dependant on how Trofeo's perform.

Got the car back after engine was rebuilt it was still too slow so flogged it & the tyres in one hit. Even if I would of kept them they wouldn't of fit a Noble as underwidth. luckily sold them for more for I payed for them as they were difficult to source back then in 09...

I have just done my first track day on 888s on Sunday and they performed superb, so well in fact, I was putting in the same times as the guys in the R 500 caterhams and they were on slicks the only cars putting in faster times were the GT3s also on slicks and I was only a couple of secs behind them, IMO they are the best track/road tyre I have used so far, the only downs side is they are noisy.
No one has mentioned the Mich cup sport tyre which will be my next choice of tyre and compare against the 888s, the cup sports are expensive at over 200 a pop, used as standard on all the GT3 Porsche, and Zonda, so must be worth a look, downside of the cup tyre is they are notorious in the wet.
