Open Fire - wood burns very quickly
Discussion
I have an open fire which I am burning logs and kindling bought in bags from B & Q. It lights very easily and the burns extremley fast, I am going through about 5-6 logs and hours. There doesn't seem to be any damper or anything I can adjust. Anyway to slow it down? I don't mind it so much but it takes so much work to keep it going or it will just burn itself out.
The packet says its hardwood. It also says it is kiln dried which maybe why it burns faster.
I am in Milton Keynes.
Haven't tried coal might give it a go. I seem to have it going nicely at the moment and there is a base layer of glow ember which I don't usualy get. I might chuck a big log in a mo and see if that burns slowly.
