Last night after spending sometime at a friends I went for an extended drive home in fresh snow, rwd isn't practical in the snow but it sure is fun.

I went to a few private parking areas and had a little slide around aswell.

Anyone else yet?

Heading out in the MX5, had to dig two other cars off the drive to get it out... Bit chilly and still a very snowy sky this morning; suspect there is more to come.

RWD antics on the industrial estate will make up for all of that

Workshop alarm went off at 5.45 this morning - false alarm - but looked out to see about a foot of snow over everything.
Missus has a Vitara that I put some snow tyres on and went out at 6am.
Something very satisfying about driving through fresh snow!!

I still met a snowplough (thankfully I was able to pull off the road) and a CO-OP artic on the verge of jack-knifing.

Didnt give it any stick though - if I broke the car A) the wife would go spare and B) I would have to pay for it smile

A friend of mine has tested the snow mode on his Evo and reported that it was boring as it drives like it does in the dry.

Sort of the point isn't it?

Since I can't get out in any of the RWD cars (only because our driveway is a 300 yard long uphill) I went to town in the Saxo 1.1. Great fun!

Had to get home last night and decided that despite fitting new suspension on the RX7 it probably wasn't the best choice.

4x4 Isuzu pick up with snow tyres - makes it too easy.

Even in RWD only it wasn't a problem.

It's six inches deep here and last night was mental - lots of hills = carnage. (Happily I didn't see any crashes though).

The look on people's faces as they're stuck on a hill in the middle of the road with people shovelling away and you sail past in your lowered, RWD auto Merc is priceless biggrin

Also overtook a bloke in a new 5 series in my C1 - he went ballistic!

Sad to report though that both the C1 and Merc (on winters) actually failed to get up one hill; single track country road, pretty steep with dry stone walls on either side. It was a bit of a big ask though - it was plain that nobody else had done it.

Wife and I went to the flicks last night (saw the new Sherlock very good we thought!)

Went out in her car a new shape Murano and I have to say it was very competent and did very well. There was a good 3-4 inches in places and the utter carnage caused by the masses who were out and had not a single clue was as infuriating as it was smirk worthy in places.

Decided to drive to and from the West End last night. Seems i had a better journey than my fellow travellers on public transport, but it still took a hefty 2 hours and at least 2 gallons of juice. Waterloo and The Strand were gridlocked (15mph for the first couple of miles), loads of tts aiming snowballs at cars, had to stop off at a bar in Clapham Common for a piss (which was a tad embarrassing as i was obviously passing through) .. but it was damn good fun!

Oh yes.

Main roads were chaos, so me and a Landy 90 went the back way smile

Took the Cherokee out this morning. With the huge chunky tyres on it, everywhere was a breeze.
There is a steep hill near me that was covered in snow so I thought I would try it. No problem at all and the 6 ft spray of snow coming off all 4 wheels must have looked superb wink

Mases of power from the 4 litre lump - what more do you want from a 150 quid car smile

Took the M5 out for a quick play earlier, no real problems with traction TBH. My neighbours were a little suprised to see me use the handbrake to line the car up so I could reverse into the carpark though biglaugh

Back in 2010 in scotland (way up north) it was the worst i have ever seen it, (1ft 1/2 of snow on the roads maybe more perhaps)The father in laws mk2 disco tdi did it all with ease in rwd for the most part and only used 4x4 for up steep inclines, tyres used where all terain. Very impressed i was to say the least

Much of it has melted, or at least turned to slush in the town centres round here.
