Sony Trinitron. Can't alter the volume via the remote.

Our Sony CRT has finally developed a fault after 10 years of ownership.

I can't adjust the volume using the remote control. The remote is OK as we have 3 that control the TV it's the same problem with all of them.

There is a manual volume adjust, but this seems iffy too.

I'm tempted to replace but if this could be easily fixed that would be good too.

Its possible that on of the mechanical buttons on the TV has got stuck, this would cause it to ignore the R/C and it also works the other way too, if one of the buttons on the R/C is stuck.
