MW3 Killstreaks not working

I play COD MW3 on the PS3, have been playing it for a while now. I'm on third prestige and suddenly I noticed I wasn't getting my killstreak rewards.
I've tried a few things and found the following:
If I use the pre-defined classes the kill streaks work.
If I reset the custom class to one of the defaults it works.
As soon as I change anything, even an attachment on a weapon, it stops working.
Tried using the other PS3, same result.
Tried deleting all the game data etc, same result.
After some lengthy googling I see there are a few other people with the same thing but no answers on how to fix it. The support streaks seem to work sometimes and the death streaks are just fine but the normal kill streaks won't work at all. I did have one case where it didn't give me uav for 3 kills but did give me the predator missile for 5, but can't remember what I had done at the time.
It's doing my head in now and I have no idea how to fix it. Can anyone please help before various Sony branded items exit via the nearest window?

I'm using everything I think, finding the various different killstreaks types a bit confusing in this one. Does that stop the normal ones working then?
I've probably ticked 3 boxes in the specialist streaks but can't remember what now, probably the default at the moment because of resetting everything. I'll try unticking them tomorrow to see what happens.

Cheers guys, that explains it. Been trying to complete some of the challenges and they require the calling in of certain killstreak rewards, pretty much done all the specialist ones now.
Wouldn't claim to be a better player by any stretch of the imagination, in fact it's a bit of a shock on the rare occasion I get the best player title
